to enjoy a good meal from Hub's restaurant and to see
the latest fashions from Suedell's of Union City, Tenn.

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19
Climbing Your Family Tree

The
Hickman Public Library hosted this free lecture on research
for family ancestors. The session was instructed by
Phyllis Simmons of Hickman who is a retired University of
Kentucky Cooperative Extension Agent for family and consumer
sciences.
Pecan Festival Community Prayer Service

Former University of Kentucky basketball star Cameron Mills
was the guest speaker for the Community Prayer Service at
First Baptist Church. Mills played for two NCAA National
Championship teams at Kentucky and now travels with Cameron
Mills Ministries. (l to r): HRTCC board members Rick

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20
Pecan Festival Reading and Book
Signing with Author Dr. J. John Portera

Dr.
Portera signed copies and explained about his new book "The
Note" which has Hickman ties. The event was held at the
Hickman Public Library and was sponsored by the HRTCC board
and Friends of the Library board. Copies of the book are
available at the library.
Kids Day at the Park



Area youth gathered at Jeff Green Memorial Park to sack-race,
target
shoot with bb guns, race stick-horses, and catch eggs during
the egg-drop
Fulton County Conservation
District Trap-Shoot

Area shooters came
out to the 4-H shooting range for a night of sport shooting.
Justin Harrison was awarded a brand new shotgun during a
drawing at the event. The HRTCC board thanks the
Conservation District board for all of their support of the
Hickman Pecan Festival. Special thanks to Lynn Major and
Tatia Bradshaw for their work during the shoot.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 21
Music and Fun on a Friday Night

Kevin Castleberry (top photo) and Carmen Henderson, Hubbard
Murray, and Scotty Johnson of the band "Nothin Fancy"
performed Friday night for a large crowd who came out to enjoy
the food, venders, and fellowship of the festival. It
was a great evening of good music.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 22
The Big Day at the Park
Hal Ketchum

County music and Grand Ole Opry star Hal Ketchum performed
some of his biggest hits, including "Small Town Saturday
Night", "5 O'clock World", and "Momma Knows the Highway".
The Hager Twins



Hee
Haw's Jim and John Hager put on a fantastic show for the
festival crowd with music, comedy, and entertainment.
The Hager's entertained the crowd with Hee Haw classic songs,
including the famous "Pfft, You Are Gone". Great guys,
great show.
Tom "Eb" Lester

Former "Green Acres" television star Tom Lester spent the
afternoon at the Pecan Festival meeting people, signing
autographs, and telling of his days as "Eb Dawson" on the
famous hit show. Lester travels the country now speaking
in churches, festivals, and other venues about his life as a
Christian. Lester posed with the HRTCC board backstage.

This was a
fantastic week of fun, food, entertainment, and fellowship for
Hickman, Ky. We want to thank everyone who made it
possible, everyone who took part in the events, and to
everyone whose support and sponsorship made this festival a
huge success.
The Hickman
Recreation and Tourist Commission board looks forward to its
continued work within the community.
